Not only must your mobility scooter fit in your state room in a designated area but it cannot block corridors either. It is a policy that most think all cruise ships will adopt.
Why is Carnival Implementing Stricter Rules for Mobility Scooters?
Experienced cruisers know the narrow stateroom corridors on ships. Scooters parked in these hallways pose a significant safety risk in case of an emergency evacuation and create obstacles for people pushing wheelchairs, strollers, or cleaning carts. They also hinder other mobility scooter users and anyone trying to navigate the hallways, especially when carrying multiple plates of food.
Will Carnival’s New Scooter Policy Be Enforced?
The enforcement of cruise policies can vary, but John Heald, a senior cruise director and brand ambassador of Carnival Cruise Lines,has stated that once the new scooter policy is fully implemented, there will be fleet-wide procedures to ensure compliance. He emphasized that passengers will not be allowed to bring mobility scooters on board unless they can be stored inside their booked cabins.
