Powered Lifts

Stand-Up Lifts

A standing lift or stand assist lift becomes an invaluable part of their daily life and is also a great help to caregivers and family members. Unlike traditional patient lifts with a cradle sling, the sit to stand lift keeps the patient in an upright position and supports their weight with a seat or sling. The caregiver pushes the patient in the upright position to their next transfer. Whether it's a non-powered standing hoist or an electric lift, a standing lift is a must-have for patient transfers and the completion of required daily activities like bathing, using the toilet, and moving from room to room. Our lifts reach Bariatric capacity that can handle as much as 400 pounds.

Please note that with hydraulic and manual sit to stand lifts, the patient must be able to pull themselves up to the standing position. A seat is then put in place to support the patient’s weight while transferring. Electric patient lifts extend to meet the patient and helps raise them. The patient must have trunk stability and use of their arms for both manual and electric lifts.

Should I use a hydraulic or electric patient lift?

Both patient lifts and sit-to-stand lifts can be operated manually and are generally less expensive. These hydraulic lifts require the caregiver to raise the patient with a lever they pump to elevate the individual to a hoisted position. To lower the patient, a tab is flipped and the caregiver may have to push the arm of the lift down. These lifts demand more interaction of the caregiver and can at times be uncomfortable for the patient while being hoisted by the pumping sensation.

Electronic patient lifts are a bigger investment but are usually easier on caregivers and those being lifted because there is virtually zero manual labor involved in moving patients. Power is provided through rechargeable batteries and the caregiver uses a remote to raise and lower the patient for transfers. This fluid motion is often preferred by both patient and caregiver.
